UZ Brussel University Hospital selects Enterprise Imaging to support a unified medical imaging environment in their hospital-wide implementation.

AGFA HealthCare is pleased to announce that leading Belgian university hospital UZ Brussel has selected AGFA HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging Platform to support its hospital-wide implementation of a unified medical imaging environment. This innovative solution combines advanced native diagnostic imaging features with intelligent workflow orchestration, and will fulfil the hospital’s vision of a unified image management eco-system.
UZ Brussel University Hospital is deeply committed to innovation in both medical care and technology providing the best possible care to patients. Founded within the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the hospital places great emphasis on scientific research, with almost 4,200 employees, 721 hospital beds, and accounting for more than 360,000 consultations every year for local and international patients.
After a competitive evaluation of multiple vendors, UZ Brussel chose AGFA HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging (EI) Platform. This award-winning technology is designed to help radiologists and clinicians work at the top of their craft, stay fully focused and free of distractions. Supporting healthcare institutions globally in their digital evolution, the platform integrates advanced clinical applications into a unified environment—providing smooth, intuitive access to the tools that enhance diagnostic confidence. By streamlining medical imaging across the entire care continuum, Enterprise Imaging will help UZ Brussel to keep the healthcare ecosystem connected and “in the flow”.
“UZ Brussel strives to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care where technology plays a key role. AGFA HealthCare was chosen as the preferred partner for the hospital-wide Enterprise Imaging Platform following a thorough evaluation of the vendors and solutions available on the market. This aligns seamlessly with our strategic goals to further optimize digital innovation and patient-centred care,” says Prof. Dr Johan De Mey, Head of Radiology, UZ Brussel.
The platform will deliver performance and seamless integration across hospital departments by the Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) for agnostic image fulfillment. This will provide rapid access to relevant information, leveraging to “next-generation” image management functionality – essential to supporting the best possible care to its patients.
“We are delighted that UZ Brussel has chosen AGFA HealthCare as its trusted partner for this strategic project. Enterprise Imaging will create a centralized, unified environment for managing medical images and patient information across UZ Brussel, enabling the optimization of medical imaging and contributing to streamlined, patient-centred, data-driven care. This enterprise-wide approach also enhances collaboration across medical disciplines, accelerates diagnostic processes, and drives greater efficiency throughout clinical workflows,” says Ann Deroose, Regional Manager BeNeLux.
Implementation will take place in tactical phases to ensure a smooth delivery and minimize strain on hospital operations and resources. Full deployment is expected in 2025.
