AGFA HealthCare is delighted to announce the successful Go-Live of the Enterprise Imaging Platform at Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi – a luminary customer in the Middle East and Africa Regions. Recognized as the Best in KLAS in the PACS Middle East/Africa category in 2023 and 2024, the implementation of Enterprise Imaging marks a significant milestone in our leadership in the region and bringing another customer to success.

The Aga Khan University Hospital, established in 1985, is a premier international institution acclaimed for its contributions to health sciences education and healthcare delivery. With campuses in Pakistan and Kenya, it provides extensive secondary and tertiary healthcare services, alongside being a primary educational hub for the University’s Medical Colleges and the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery.

After a rigorous selection process, AGFA HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging Platform was launched in November 2023 within Karachi’s Radiology department. Subsequent rollouts were then launched across four additional sites in 2024, incorporating XERO® Universal Viewer, Business Intelligence, Clinical Collaboration, and Enterprise Imaging for Radiology.

Mohammad Al-Fataftah, AGFA HealthCare’s Project Manager, comments on the deployment:

This partnership stands as a testament to what can be achieved with unified teams and robust governance. Our profound appreciation goes to the Aga Khan University Hospital’s exceptional staff for their collaborative efforts and unwavering support.”

Shumail Usmani, Project Manager at Aga Khan University Hospital, shared his insights on the project’s complexities:

“Due to the scope of the project, the journey was challenging – particularly as it navigated through intricate puzzles of data migration, workflow assessment/mapping and overall system integration in the existing landscape. These obstacles were achieved successfully thanks to a great teamwork both from AKU and AGFA HealthCare. The transition from the legacy PACS, Radiology Information System (RIS) and Voice Recognition System (VRS) to the latest Enterprise Imaging Platform was seamless – it didn’t impact hospital operations and patient care. The AKU leadership and technology team really appreciate and value the support we have received from the AGFA HealthCare project and execution team.”

What an achievement from both parties!
