AGFA HealthCare is pleased to announce that Istituti Fisioterapici Ospitalieri (IFO), in Rome, Italy, has renewed and upgraded its Enterprise Imaging platform. The upgraded solution, including integrated augmented intelligence (AI), post-processing tools and cloud-based business continuity and disaster recovery on AWS, has gone live, confirming AGFA HealthCare as IFO’s trusted imaging partner. IFO is a public hospital (IRCCS) specialized in oncology and dermatology and includes two research institutes, located on a single site.

The first AGFA HealthCare Enterprise Imaging platform was implemented at IFO in June 2020. It enabled radiologists to enhance their performance and productivity, and provided specialists with access to diagnostic information. The new agreement broadens the scope considerably, including not only Enterprise Imaging for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the Elefante® Radiology Information System (RIS), and the XERO® Universal Viewer, but also AGFA’s Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), advanced post-processing, clinical applications, AI, and monitoring and business intelligence tools.

With cloud-based business continuity and long-term archiving, the project marks the first AGFA HealthCare Enterprise Imaging deployment on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud in Italy.

Empowering clinicians through simplified workflows and stronger imaging infrastructure

“We have always been very satisfied with our collaboration with AGFA HealthCare and the impact of Enterprise Imaging. Now, by bringing our tools together into one unified environment and strengthening our infrastructure through the cloud, we are making our teams’ daily work simpler and our systems more resilient,” says Giuseppe Navanteri, Chief Clinical Engineering and Technology Officer, IFO.

“This upgrade goes beyond a system refresh: by integrating post-processing, 3D and AI for mammography, lung CT and prostate imaging directly into Enterprise Imaging, we’re empowering IFO’s clinicians with a single, unified environment. The cloud-based business continuity and long-term archiving will further strengthen the resilience of their imaging infrastructure. Together with our partner Biesse Medica, we look forward to continuing to support IFO’s clinical and research mission for years to come,” says Marco Arcelloni, Strategic Account Manager, AGFA HealthCare.

“As AGFA HealthCare’s regional partner, Biesse Medica has been part of this journey with IFO from the very beginning, supporting the original implementation and now this new upgrade. This continuity reflects the strength of our relationship, both with AGFA HealthCare and with IFO, and we’re proud to keep playing our part,” says Arianna Brugnoni, Sales and Marketing Manager, Biesse Medica.

“We welcome this opportunity to support AGFA HealthCare and IFO on this milestone, the first AGFA HealthCare Enterprise Imaging implementation on AWS cloud in Italy. Cloud infrastructure is playing an increasingly important role in how healthcare organizations manage and protect critical data, and we look forward to seeing this collaboration continue to grow,” Rowland Illing, Chief Medical Officer and Director, Amazon Web Services.

A unified solution built for the future

AGFA HealthCare’s success was driven by the strength of its comprehensive, integrated Enterprise Imaging proposition, together with the proposed cloud infrastructure on AWS. The upgraded solution went live in June 2026, and the AWS cloud business continuity has been deployed in October 2026.
