What is flow?

The Flow theory is a psychological concept that was first introduced by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in 1975*. It is defined as the state of being completely absorbed in an activity, where one’s skills are matched with the challenge at hand. Since then, business consultants have conducted extensive research on the flow theory, and its applications in various fields – such as education and business.

According to Csikszentmihalyi, the conditions for entering flow are concepted as “perceived challenges, or opportunities for action, that stretch but do not overmatch existing skills. Clear proximal goals, technology and human.”

Part 2: Dr Matteo Fronza introduces his life in flow. 

Dr Matteo Fronza is a Consultant Radiologist, specialising in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Imaging, based in the UK. Working for the NHS, the world’s largest single healthcare system, Dr Fronza is regular user of the Enterprise Imaging Platform. As a radiology professional for an enterprising healthcare provider, he is privy to seeing world-class technologies spanning across an entire hospital eco-system.
