Worldwide

Radiologists now have easy, synchronized access to information and functionality from both Agfa's RIS & PACS. From a single workstation, radiologists can operate different applications sharing the same context. Only one log-in is required for RIS, Speech and PACS applications; patient and study data need to be selected only once. With a bi-directional RIS/PACS integration, data only needs to be entered once to be shared throughout the system. All relevant information is automatically available, contributing to an optimally documented diagnostic process. This not only saves precious time, it also eliminates errors.

Easily accessible information

Clinical information is easily and coherently accessible from either the RIS or the PACS. When the radiologist selects a patient's study from the worklist, the images are presented on diagnostic quality image monitors together with all relevant medical-clerical information on a separate monitor: patient data, visit information, relevant priors and reporting history as well as scanned documents are displayed on one easy-to-view screen. New images and relevant priors are displayed on two or more high-resolution monitors. An extensive set of viewing and annotation tools helps radiologists work more efficiently. They can make fast comparisons of images and data coming from different modalities such as CR, DR, CT, MRI and Ultrasound. And they have access to state-of-the-art image processing functions such as MIP, MPR and 3D reconstruction. This makes diagnoses more accurate and comprehensive than ever before.

All relevant data at hand: ready for reporting

Focusing on the unique requirements of radiologists, Agfa's integrated reporting solution makes their work easier. They no longer have to switch to a different application for reporting. They can now dictate their findings while they have all relevant data and images right in front of their eyes.

The power of speech technology

The RIS/PACS reporting solution integrates with speech processing applications to enable digital dictation and speech recognition. Powerful and fully integrated dictation facilities ensure fast and relevant transfer of the dictations to the transcriptionist without risking loss of tapes. Integrated speech recognition allows radiologists to smoothly shift from on-line to off-line speech recognition on a need-to basis per report and to opt for self-correction or deferred correction. Using on-line speech recognition, they can dictate and sign reports while the images are still displayed and the case is still fresh in their mind. This reduces report turnaround time dramatically.

Efficient handling of pending reports

This integrated reporting solution also provides easy and convenient access to reports where verification and validation are pending. A sign-off queue is presented for reports dictated by the radiologists themselves or for review of reports on behalf of colleagues. Radiologists can choose to use synchronized display of corresponding images and series. This enables report review and approval in the full context of a patient's history.

Security and confidentiality

Access to the system and health information is protected by an extensive, configurable, security system. Important user and system actions are logged. This solution enables compliance with national and local Protected Health Information (PHI) requirements.
